Bodega Son Mayol
Bodega Son Mayol is a new estate, located in Mallorca, a Spanish island in the Mediterranean sea. The owner, a Swiss entrepreneur, is a great wine lover especially of Bordeaux Grands Crus and we can clearly see this influence in the estate nicely combined with the exotic charm of the island. This project wast made possible thanks to the determination of the owner and his meeting with legendary winemaker Patrick Léon. Releasing one of the Great Wines of the world was their quest.Patrick Léon (1943-2018), a legendary winemaker who spent twenty years as winemaker for Baron Philippe de Rothschild, overseeing the group’s winemaking facilities such as Château Mouton Rothschild, Opus One, and Almaviva.
At Son Mayol, he planned and carried out the grape planting, construction of the wine cellar, wine ageing, and staff training. Bodega Son Mayol, with its top-class wines, would not be what it is without Patrick’s great knowledge, tireless dedication, and deep love of winemaking. Environemental friendly, the brand new winery is equiped with solar panels on the roof, producing 100 000 kW per year. Icon wines is not the only attraction of the estate, we also produce olive oil and Angus beef.
