AOC Vin de Pays D'oc
Since the site was already inhabited by a small tribe over 2500 years ago, Conffoulens is certainly one of the most ancient village of France. Located on a rocky headland at the confluence of the Aude and the Lauquet, the village was a roman province 50 years BC and some archaelogical findings shows that viticulture was already made then. From the Middle Age ato the XXth century most of the population there lived from the vines.
Area under vine: 30 hectares
Grape varieties: Domaine de la Tranquillite Rose consists of a number of complementary grape varieties from various locations;
-Three different vineyard sites: Corbieres, Ventenac Cabardes, and Villespassans, all of which feature excellent terroirs in widely-recognised appellations.
-Five different grape varieties, 4 Mediterranean (Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, and Carignan) and one Atlantic (Cabernet Franc)
Age of Vines: 15 years.
Vine density: 4,000 vines per hectare.
Viticulture: Gobelet (Traditional short pruning) for the Carignans and Grenaches, Merlots, Cabernets and Syrah are trellised. Bud thinning and leaf thinning. Green harvesting.
Winemaking: The grapes are manually picked up. Traditional winemaking in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Maceration from 15 to 20 days. Aging during 6 months partially in French oak barrels.
Yield: 25 to 35 hl per hectare.
