Chateau Clerc Milon

There is no chateau, but the vineyards are brilliantly placed next to both Mouton-Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild and sharing similar soil. In 1970 this chateau was purchased by Baron Philippe de Rothschild. It was then known as Clerc-Milon-Mondon, he changed the name to simply Clerc-Milon, he also gave the wine a newly designed label, depicting an early 17th century, silver gilt, German drinking cup from the Mouton collection. The current label depicts a pair of dancing clowns also from the Mouton collection. They depict characters of Comedia Dell’ Arte in gold and baroque pearls, made by German goldsmiths in the 17th century for Catherine of Russia.

Clerc-Milon is managed according to the same principles and methods as the two other chateaus owned by the Rothschild, Chateau Mouton-Rothschild and Chateau Mouton-Baronne-Philippe to produce good wines.
