The winery (or bodega) called FLECHAS DE LOS ANDES was born from the partnership between Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and Laurent Dassault, as the result of their research of a great terroir at the foot of the Andes in the Mendoza region.
The name “Flechas de los Andes” or “Andes arrows” refers to the 5 arrows, symbol of the Rothschild family (symbolizing the five brothers at the origin of this dynasty of entrepreneurs). Both families Rothschild and Dassault are aiming to produce a wine of excellence.
Built in 2003 and operational since the 2004 harvest, cellar Flechas de los Andes is a synthesis of all knowledge gained by experience of both partners in Bordeaux (Château Clarke and Château Dassault). Each harvest is handpicked, hand selected, and then fermented with high quality requirements in the most modern equipment.
At the foot of the Andes, 120 km south of Mendoza, the Malbec variety rules as the king of this unique terroir. This wine was produced with the greatest care in order to achieve a world class blend dominated by Malbec and called : “Gran Corte”.
Tasting Note: The typical Malbec from Argentina marks its identity with its aromas of violet and prunes. Syrah provides great minerals and spicy aromas in our semi-desert climate. Malbec as well as Syrah are very intense wines and it is Cabernet-Franc which brings elegance and subtlety with very soft tannins and rose aromas. All these components provide the complexity and elegance wich are necesarry for a great wine.
Food Matching: In general goes well with grilled meat and French cheese. Chinese: Stirred Fried Black Pepper beef. Japanese: Meat Tepanyaki. Korean: Beef Bulgogi.
