Tasting Note: The Palate expresses a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The structure speaks to a wine that could age for a century, but with the polished tannins and freshness of a wine that could be enjoyed today. It is a wine full of balance and unique, almost mysterious qualities, Martha’s Vineyard is a true Napa Valley icon. Core aromas of eucalyptus, cedar and mint will contiune to blossom over time. Flavours of raspberry and red currant abound.

Terroir: This area does receive abundant sunshine, but it is tempered by cooling winds and fog from the nearby San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay. As a result, the grapes ripen slowly in the sun without burning. The fog slows down the ripening process slightly, allowing the grapes to develop more phenolic (aromatic and flavor) compounds before harvest. These cooling influences also preserve acidity in the grapes which gives them greater aging potential and balance. Here, the soil is extremely gravelly and fast-draining, which prevents water dilution and results in grapes with a higher concentration of flavor.
Vinification: 5-7 day fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Ageing: 9 months in neutral oak upright tanks followed by 24 months in 50% new, 50% used French oak barrels.
Residual sugar: 2.7g/l
