La Richemonne is a "small" Premier Cru of Nuits Saint-Georges located to the north of the village, next to Vosne-Romanée. This vineyard is very close to two other famous Premiers Crus: Damodes and Boudots, in the middle of a rather steep slope. The soil is poor and produces a very fine wine.
Grapes are destemmed, then fermented in open vats. This wine is aged in French oak barrels during 18 months before bottling.
This wine shows a nice shiny ruby color. The fruity nose opens with spicy and liquorice aromas and a nice complexity. The tanins are elegant and allow a nice and long after taste.
La Richemonne will be a good companion for game and roasted or grilled meat.
This Premier Cru has a great aging potential : 10 years and more depending on the vintage.
